The New Waves Of A Cellulite-Free Future

Cellulite, the bane of women of all sizes, meets new opposition in the form of acoustic waves in Cellupulse and radio-frequency waves in Reaction by Viora.

A common understanding in the aesthetic industry is a large percentage of all women have cellulite... or think they do. Therefore it's no surprise that there is such a large market for cellulite treatment, which in itself is a misnomer. While there is no cure for cellulite, technology has come a long way in temporarily treating the appearance of cellulite. Many effective cellulite treatments such as VelaShape, Reaction, and SmoothShapes use combinations of laser, vacuum suction, light, rollers and injections. However, some of the newest technologies use "wave" technology, such as acoustic waves and radio frequency waves to smooth the appearance of cellulite.

"Cellulite is a circulation problem which causes fat cells to swell and connective tissue in between to shrink and harden which causes the dimpling effect seen with cellulite," says Dr. Michelle Ware from the Los Feliz Med Spa in Los Angeles. Recently seen on The Doctors, Dr. Ware demonstrated the procedure Cellupulse, to treat cellulite. Originally used in sports injuries to treat tendonitis and muscle injuries, Cellupulse utilizes sound waves to increase circulation and elasticity of the skin to smooth out the appearance of cellulite. According to Dr. Ware, lifestyle plays a large part in the results of Cellupulse, "The healthier and younger the person, the healthier the lifestyle, the better the results."

Recently featured in the American Health and Beauty Tech Review on Cellulite Reduction, the radio-frequency energy device, Reaction by Viora is unique in it's attack on cellulite. Unlike other cellulite treatments, Reaction can be tailored to each patient by adjusting the RF energy to address different levels of fat. In an exclusive interview with renowned New York dermatologist Dr. Neil Sadick, he says, "We know that cellulite involves multiple layers of the skin, including fat cells that are in an abnormal location in the dermis as well as an irregular arrangement down in the deeper fat layer of the tissue."

Dr. Sadick continues, "By having a newer technology like Reaction by Viora that can target both mid-dermal as well as subcutaneous fat cell targets - and also be able to heat the surrounding septum around fat cells - we are able to produce a more effective cellulite outcome for our patients."
