Recently reported in American Health and Beauty, a trend that is anticipated to continue in 2011 is the divergence from surgical procedures to minimally invasive and non-invasive procedures. However, to get the results that some patients are seeking, there are currently no minimally invasive option available. Generally speaking, these types of procedures yield more dramatic results and while a few minimally and non-invasive options are available, these do not give the same results.

While noninvasive technology such as Zeltiq and Zerona have come into the market, these options are good to remove spot fat. To remove greater amounts of fat, the only option is Liposuction. But traditional liposuction has seen recent technological advances that use lasers: Smartlipo, ultrasound VASER LipoSelection or even vibration Tickle Lipo to minimize surgical aspects and patient downtime. And while these procedures are typically marketed as minimally invasive, there is still some type of liposuction, i.e. surgery involved.

A major surgical procedure, the excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and muscles are tightened in the abdomen wall.

The newest surgical procedure to be in the Top 5, Buttock Augmentation was traditionally done with implants. However, a new technique, the Brazilian Butt Lift uses a fat transfer in which fat is liposuctioned out of an unwanted area and then injected into the buttock region. Buttock augmentation will continue to be a hot trend in 2011.

More and more consumers are researching Vaginal Rejuvenation - these surgeries may include: Labiaplasty, Mons Pubis Rejuvenation, Hymenoplasty. As women age or after giving birth, the vagina changes shape and these surgeries can help restore or alter the vagina to its previous state.
5. Breast Augmentation
There are many new options to Breast Augmentation that include different shapes (teardrop, round, anatomic) and types (saline, silicone) but the newest technology uses the patients own fat. In Natural Breast Augmentation, fat is removed from one part of the body and injected into the breast area for up to a 1 cup increase. However, for a more dramatic increase, a breast augmentation is still the surgical procedure to undergo.
