What is Natural Breast Augmentation?
Natural breast augmentation is a breast enlargement procedure that uses your own fat to add volume to your breasts rather than implants made of saline or silicone. It is a relatively new procedure that is growing in popularity thanks to patient interest and improvements in the fat viability. Patients enjoy the combination procedure of breast augmentation and lipo.

Natural Breast Augmentation Facts
- Uses your own fat to enlarge your breasts.
- Provides added volume of 1-2 cup sizes.
- Less pain and downtime than traditional breast augmentation.
How Is Natural Breast Augmentation Performed?
The physician will remove fat grafts from fatty parts of the body, including the buttocks, thighs and hips using a liposuction procedure. The fat is then processed to remove any blood and/or tumescent solution and is then injected into the breasts. This fatty tissue can be used alone or in conjunction with breast augmentation with traditional silicone or saline implants. The purpose is to enhance the look and feel of the breast, creating a more natural, softer curve than could be obtained with implants alone.
The physician has several options for removing the fat which may be done by suctioning the fat out with only a needle for those looking for a small enhancement, or with other new lipolysis options such as Vaser and Body-Jet. These two modalities in particular are used because they keep the fat cells whole and alive whereas laser lipo devices melt the fat, making it unusable for fat transfer.

This procedure is not for those who want to increase their breasts more than 1-2 cup sizes, and only about 80% of the injected fat will survive. Physicians can go back after 4-6 months and add in more fat for a larger enhancement, but must first let the fat establish itself.

What Is Stem Cell Breast Augmentation?
Stem cell breast augmentation is a very similar procedure that takes the extra step of separating the stem cells found in fat, concentrating them, and reintroducing them into the fat before it is injected into the breasts. The stem cells help the fat to better survive and establish their own blood supply and integrate into the breast for an improved result.

How Long Does It Take To Recover From Natural Breast Augmentation?
Patients generally recover very quickly and are back to normal activities within a week or two. Following surgery, you don't want to put much pressure on or allow much movement of the breast, but other than that recovery is pretty simple.

What Are The Risks Of Natural Breast Augmentation?
The procedure is typically performed under only local anesthesia, which greatly reduces the patient's risk. There is the possibility of an uneven result or calcification, but most patients have no problem at all. Natural breast augmentation also avoids any risk of leakage and shouldn't require a follow up surgery in 10-20 years as is often the case with implants.
As this is a relatively new procedure, long term effects and risks are not yet known. Speak to your physician about what risks you may face.
