Non-Invasive Liposuction on Fox News

Story on Fox News about a new procedure that uses ultrasound to break up fat without injections or surgery

The procedure is described as a replacement for Liposuction that involves no injections and no anesthesia. It is not SmartLipo which uses a laser to melt fat, because although SmartLipo is minimally invasive, it does involve small incisions and the insertion of a cannula with a laser fiber.

AmericanHealthandBeauty.com follows the aesthetic market very closely and is not aware of any non-invasive, ultrasound device that is used for spot fat reduction which is currently FDA approved. There has been a recent news story recently on Good Morning America about UltraShape, a promising new technology that is used in Canada and Europe which sounds identical to the procedure being described, ie. the destruction of fat cells using ultrasonic technology. However, UltraShape is currently being reviewed by the FDA and can not be performed in the United States until such time as it achieves FDA clearance.

One device that uses "Cool Laser Energy" from light to break up fat is the Zerona laser. The Zerona Laser has received positive press over the past few months and is non-invasive and requires no anesthesia or downtime. This procedure is very new and is not readily available in all markets.

If you heard the name of the procedure being discussed on Fox News email us and we will investigate further.
