dr. thomas barnes Dr. Thomas Barnes will be leading a 90-minute Breakout Session at the 26th Annual American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) Meeting in Orlando, FL on Thursday at 4:00pm.

Today there are multiple companies with various laser lipolysis units for sale ? more than a dozen. They each have a common principle: heating subcutaneous tissue to effect a desirable results and are said to be important adjuncts to body contouring and tumescent liposuction.

Based on heating subcutaneous tissue, fat, and dermis, favorable benefits can result (improved post-op healing and increased dermal tightening) woman covered as well as unfavorable outcomes including the risk of tissue burns, post-op panniculitis and the possible increased risk of seroma formation post-op. Education is key is minimizing potential complications and realizing the best possible clinical benefits using these aesthetic devices.

This talk explores various treatment approaches common to each of the laser lipolysis devices in association with tumescent liposuction and liposculpture and a clinical discussion on heating tissue which can effect desirable tissue changes associated with better outcomes as well as avoiding the risk of tissue burns and other potential less-than-desirable outcomes.

Little has been explored, studied and/or written on the issue of variations of heating of tissue, the importance of heating over time, avoiding peak and prolonged high temperatures and what order of events might derive the best possible outcomes and least probability of complications. This talk will explore each of these points.
