Dr. Thomas Barnes, a Newport Beach cosmetic surgeon says that when stars are just a couple of days away from their event, skin care is critical. "Sometimes we can do a little derma-planing and take some of the excess hair off the face, that makes the face look a lot better." Another little secret is a trip to the tanning salon, "You get a little bit of inflammation of the skin and a little swelling in the skin, that erases those little lines and wrinkles and make you look younger."

Dr. Barnes also says that about a week ago, the Emmy attendees may have been getting injectables for the big night, and perhaps a little laser lipo. "If you have 3-7 days before an event, then we can move into {!fillers... | facial fillers} and even Botox. If we have a week or more, then we can get into little mini procedures, tighten up the neck with a little liposculpture, SmartLipo, and other body contours."

Dr. Barnes also says that for those who have a full two weeks, he can perform his own neck shrink lift procedure which is done awake. "I use a little liposculpture technique I do, and then I add my SmartLipo MPX, and I actually heat the tissue of the whole lower face and neck, and I can get amazing results and tightening. Very often, we can avoid cutting surgery for a lower facelift." People are able to return to their normal activities quickly. "They're working within 2-3 days."

So tune in for the stars, the TV, and the fashions this Sunday as Jimmy Fallon hosts the Emmy's on NBC.
