It's almost time. The paparazzi are set up and ready to go. Lenses focused keenly on the stars set to make their way down the red carpet for Sunday's Academy Awards. What the lenses won't see is the time and work the stars put into making themselves look their absolute hottest for their Oscar moment.

We spoke to Dr. Thomas Barnes, a Newport Beach cosmetic surgeon was physician to the real housewives of Orange County, and not just the ones you see on TV, but the regular folk too, after all, the stars aren't the only ones with special events. Dr. Barnes shares some surprising tips for prepping not just for the Oscars, but for your big event too. When anyone has a big event, they want to look, "youthful, radiant, they want to project a happy attitude or charismatic attitude they want to look good in the clothes they may have spent a lot of money for," says Dr. Barnes.
Dr. Barnes gave us a great break down of what the stars do just 1-2 days before their event. "Let's talk a little bit about skin care. Sometimes we can do a little derma-planing... and take some of the excess hair off the face, that makes the face look a lot better." Another little secret is a trip to the tanning salon, "You get a little bit of inflammation of the skin and a little swelling in the skin, that erases those little lines and wrinkles and makes you look younger.... I'm not saying it's healthy, but these are the little tricks of the trade in Hollywood." Have you ever noticed that when your pores are enlarged, makeup only seems to make them look bigger? "In Hollywood, they take a little superglue and they fill up some of those pores they just pop it out later." There are some other non-surgical touch ups to be done such as dermabrasion, eMatrix, and Affirm. "These also give a little inflammation to the skin which makes it look better and more youthful."
"If you have 3-7 days before an event, then we can move into {!fillers... | facial fillers} and even Botox, says Dr. Barnes. "If we have a week or more, then we can get into little mini procedures, tighten up the neck with a little liposculpture, SmartLipo, and other body contours."
Dr. Barnes also says that for those who have a full two weeks, he can perform his own neck shrink lift procedure which is done awake. "I use a little liposculpture technique I do, and then I add my SmartLipo MPX, and I actually heat the tissue of the whole lower face and neck, and I can get amazing results and tightening. Very often, we can avoid cutting surgery for a lower facelift." People are able to return to their normal activities quickly. "They're working within 2-3 days."
