SkinPen on The View

Dr. Doris Day has a segment on Beauty Breakthroughs today on ABCs The View, featuring the latest in skin treatments.

The SkinPen uses a process called microneedling which is designed to create precise micro-injuries in the skin which then stimulates your skin's natural ability to repair itself by producing new collagen. New collagen production can reverse years of sun damage, improve the appearance of acne scars, stretch marks, and hyper-pigmentation as well as enhance the overall appearance of aging skin.

SkinPen Before and After
The SkinPen is colorblind and can be used on all skin types and unlike laser treatments, there is no light sensitivity afterward and very limited downtime, usually some pin-point bleeding depending on the depth of the needle penetration and pink skin for 2 to 4 days. It can be used on many parts of the body, including the face, neck, d?collet?, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

The procedure typically takes about 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area treated, number of areas and the severity of damage on the skin. Healing time varies but on average, patients have some slight redness/pinkness (like a mild sunburn) for 2-4 days.

Many patients notice healthier looking skin immediately. However, the natural repair process of your own skin continues to progress over the course of several weeks.

Most patients will need a series of 3 treatments about 4 weeks apart.
