As technology in the field of aesthetic medicine continues to improve, non-surgical procedures are becoming readily available that may effectively address the first signs of aging. Gone are the days of having to go under the knife to address wrinkles, volume loss, loose skin and dull skin tone. Particularly if these signs of aging are mild enough to not warrant a facelift but are starting to bother you, a non-surgical procedure such as the ePrime may freshen your appearance, giving you a more youthful appearance.
Recently seen on The Doctors, the ePrime from Syneron has been called the "Super Age Eraser" for its ability to minimize the signs of aging. The procedure utilizes radio frequency (RF) energy to provide skin tightening which is delivered through a group of small needles that are injected into the deeper layer of dermis. Since the heat is delivered deep within to encourage natural collagen growth, the outer layer of skin is not damaged, thus decreasing any downtime typically associated with anti-aging procedures.
By purposefully wounding the skin in a fractionated and controlled manner, most of the signs of aging are addressed in just one procedure. New collagen and elastin re-growth add volume, fill in wrinkles and improve the texture and tone of skin. The development of natural hyaluronic acid in the area being treated also contributes to the decrease in the appearance of wrinkles and volumizing effect of the procedure. The base of many facial fillers, hyaluronic acids naturally occur in the human body but when injected as a dermal filler, may address volume loss and wrinkles that typically occur with aging. According to dermatologist Dr. Mitchell Chasin, "That's what patients want, they want to age gracefully, naturally and they want a long lasting result."

The ePrime procedure takes about an hour and while some patients may experience some redness and mild swelling, most can return to work and normal activity the next day. As opposed to a traditional facelift, which may require up to 6 weeks of downtime, the ePrime is completly non-surgical so downtime is significantly reduced. Since the procedure encourages natural re-growth of collagen, elastin and development of hyaluronic acids, initial results may not be visible for a few weeks. "In about three weeks, the signs of youth will begin to reappear: better contour of the chin, tightness of skin, a thee dimensional effect," describes Dr. Chasin.
Final results will be achieved in approximately 3-6 months as the body continues to naturally replenish collagen and elastin, resulting in a natural, freshened and more youthful visage.
