- I don't have time to work out
We understand that you're busy - life is a constant juggling act but as with any other activity, you need to schedule time to work out. Anyone who cannot find 30 minutes out of 24 hours to work out has poor time management skills. Make time for the most important person in your life: yourself. Working out helps build your strength, gives you energy, and can actually help you de-stress from your busy life! - I don't want to get too bulky
It is true that when you lift weights, you do build muscle. However, most women cannot become extremely bulky just by lifting a few pounds. We simply don't have the testosterone needed to add that much heft. You will not become bulky by accident; gaining that much muscle requires a lot of work: heavy weight lifting, big changes in your diet and even supplements. - I can't afford a gym membership
The economy is tough right now and money is an issue for everyone. However, reassess your situation: are you wasting money on diet pills and gimmicky quick fixes to lose weight? Make your health a priority and cut out things you don't need (magic weight loss pills that don't work) and put that money towards building an at-home gym or a gym membership. - Healthy food is expensive
This may be true - you do have to pay for quality. However, once again we have to ask you to reassess the situation, it's just as easy to say eating out is expensive. You could save hundreds by buying smart: have a plan to purchase healthy food and cook in bulk to always have a healthy meal on hand. Stocking up on quick meals and snacks still costs money and only adds inches to your waistline. - I will never be thin
The goal is to get you healthy - this excuse may the absolute worst of the bunch. Equating thin with being healthy is the worst lie you can tell yourself. Regardless of history or genetics, eating properly and working out consistently will yield fitness results. Maybe you're not built to be a stick figure but you can be fit and healthy. - Those fitness models are Photoshopped
In some cases, this is true. But who cares? This is about you so don't let jealousy and cynicism keep you from pursuing fitness goals because you think they're unattainable or made up. Most fitness models compete on stages with bright lights and eye witnesses to how they really look. Sometimes it's Photoshop, but in reality, it's a lot of hard work and discipline. - Working out hurts
Really? The expression "No pain, no gain" came from somewhere and if we were betting people, we'd say it stemmed from working out. Getting a tooth pulled hurts. Having a baby hurts. Eyebrow waxing hurts. There are a lot of things in life that hurt but we continue to do them. Your new body will be worth all the supposed pain you think you'll go through. - I'm too weak to workout
Contact a professional who can help you learn how to safely stretch and work your muscles. Working out will help build strength and give you energy. - I don't want to give up good tasting food
Learn to cook healthily. You don't need to sacrifice flavor for healthy food. Lean protein, lots of vegetables and complex carbs can all be prepared to taste good. Cutting out heavy sauces, butter and extra oil may sound difficult but that doesn't mean healthy food tastes bad. There are literally thousands of healthy recipes in cookbooks and the internet or just experiment! Rubs, marinades, seasonings, and herbs are all great ways to add flavor without extra calories! - I'll start tomorrow
No you won't. You'll start today.
