We've heard a lot of excuses for not working out but this may take the proverbial cake. We are 100% for loving your curves and loving your body but if you're overweight and unhappy, you have the power to make the changes needed to improve your appearance and still maintain your womanly shape. There are many organizations that encourage overweight women to "embrace their curves" but love handles and saddlebags do not a woman make.

Unfortunately, most women have a negative body image and it's usually because they're not taking the best care of themselves and it shows. Don't be afraid to want to look better and don't be afraid to work hard for positive change. Unless round is the shape you're looking for, don't count exercise out. Proper workout technique and regular exercise really can actually improve your shape.
For a long time, there was a common misconception that cardio was the only way to burn fat and weights were only for people who wanted to become huge and muscular. This manifested itself in gyms being self-segregated into men lifting weights and women spending hours on cardio machines. However, this notion was soon dismissed as more women were spending time in the weight room with results that showed lifting weights was not necessarily synonymous with gaining bulk.
Today, fitness models show us it is possible to have a lean and muscular body and still retain your femininity. We fully support the idea that a woman should have curves but in the right places. If you're extremely overweight, you are doing a huge disservice to yourself by buying into the idea that exercising will make you less feminine. Not only is this dangerous for your health, this type of thinking only encourages a downward spiral of continued poor self-maintenance.
Therefore, it is extremely important to start a weight loss program that incorporates cardio and weight lifting. In actuality, if you are overweight, it is easier for you to defy the usual and gain muscle while losing fat. While you may not be able to target where fat loss occurs, you can target where you want to gain muscle. To maintain your shape, focus your hard work on the areas you want to grow and make sure you're eating plenty of protein.
An excellent way to build the glutes and leg muscles for a nice, firm curve appeal, climb the stairmaster or go a run on the treadmill. Don't take it easy for fear of winding up "too skinny." The other facet that plays a large part in how you look is nutrition - just make sure you're eating properly to support lean muscle mass.
To obtain or maintain a beautiful feminine shape with lots of toned, sexy curves, hit the weights at least 3-5 times a week and do 30-45 minutes of cardio at least 4 days a week. The best time to do cardio is in the morning or right after you lift weights.
Embracing the curves you worked hard at, being healthy and being smart about eating is what being a woman really is about. Don't accept status quo when it comes to your body - work hard and you'll have some real curves to flaunt!
