Non Surgical Facial Rejuvenation With Sculptra & Pelleve

By combining procedures such as Sculptra and Pelleve, this non-surgical facial rejuvenation addresses volume loss and skin tightening.

As technology advances, more non-surgical options are becoming available to rejuvenate the face. Physicians are now combining procedures to offer patients the best results with as little downtime as possible. One such combination use Sculptra to re-volumize the face and Pelleve to tighten the skin, eliminating fine lines and any skin laxity.

Before and After Results of Sculptra & Pelleve by Dr. Robert Burke

Ann Arbor cosmetic surgeon Dr. Robert Burke combines Sculptra and Pelleve to address two of the biggest concerns in facial aging: volume loss and skin laxity. "One of the things that happens as people age is they lose fat and volume in their face," describes Dr. Burke, "The second thing that happens is skin doesn't tighten quite as much so patients get skin laxity or loose skin."

Previously, the only facial rejuvenation option was a full facelift but according to Dr. Burke, "Traditionally, for aging skin, we've cut away excess skin to tighten it all up. However, tightening skin over an inadequate structure - for example, one that has experienced bone loss, it is possible for the patient to look older in some cases. In order to restore youthfulness, we use Sculptra to restore the volume and the Pelleve to cause the skin to tighten."

Sculptra, one of the many facial fillers available today has been touted by many physicians and the manufacturer as yielding more natural results over an extended period of time vs. immediate volumization. It works by stimulating natural collagen growth over several weeks, filling in wrinkles and lines slowly. Because the injectable works by creating new collagen, the results may last up to 2 years or longer. Dr. Burke says, "The manufacturer reports results that last 18?24 months but we've seen Sculptra cases presented at meetings that have lasted up to 8 years."

Pelleve utilizes radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen growth, which addresses wrinkles and tightens skin. The combination of the 2 procedures are spaced out accordingly to maximize rejuvenation results. Dr. Burke describes the treatment cycle, "It takes several months in order to build up the volume; we recommend 3 Sculptra treatments, spaced 3-4 weeks apart. We coordinate the Pelleve treatments to be a week prior to the Sculptra injections so at the end of 3 months, you have natural looking facial rejuvenation results without surgery."

The combination of Sculptra and Pelleve may offer patients a non-surgical facial rejuvenation option with no downtime. According to Dr. Burke, "The beauty of the combination of these procedures is there is no anesthetic required and no incisions. Patients can put their make up back on and go back to their normal activities after they've had their treatments."
