Revolutionary New Hair Loss Procedures

Move over Propecia and Rogaine, new hair restoration options such as Latisse/Bimatoprost are available for thinning hair and balding patients.

Millions of men and women suffer from hair loss but new hair restoration treatments are now available to treat anything from male/female pattern baldness to thinning hair. Options are not just a toupee or wearing a cap all the time, but medical procedures that can transfer hair from one site to another or simply slowing hair loss down. As seen on ABC Good Morning America, leading hair restoration provider in Boca Raton, FL Dr. Alan Bauman speaks about the latest treatments for hair loss.

Recently featured in The New York Times, a new treatment is an off label use of the eyelash enhancer Latisse by Allergen. While not FDA approved to treat hair loss, Dr. Bauman has been prescribing a generic form of bimatoprost, the active ingredient in Latisse, since 2007. He claims that this has worked on 70% of his patients - causing hair to thicken, appearing stronger and healthier where the bimatoprost is applied.

Another topical option that Dr. Bauman prescribes is "82M" Minoxidil, which is a higher strength minoxidil solution. Typical strength minoxidil is found in over the counter hair loss treatments such as Rogaine. 82M is only available with a prescription and Dr. Bauman often suggests combining 82M with his portable LaserCap for at-home hair restoration treatments. The LaserCap is low level laser therapy that can fit underneath a cap and may improve the appearance of hair.

These hair loss procedures only encourage hair growth and enhancement in existing hair follicles. For more extreme cases of hair loss, where hair is not s just thinning but is gone, Dr. Bauman also performs the NeoGraft FUE hair transplantation. According to Dr. Bauman, the NeoGraft is the least invasive transplant available and does not leave behind a linear scar. Without the use of scalpels, stitches or staples, during Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), Dr. Bauman harvests follicular units from a donor site and transplants them to where the hair is being restored.
