How to Gradually Change Your Bad Eating Habits for Good

Instead of making a drastic overnight change to your diet, take your time with these gradual steps.

If you've ever felt like you could work out all day long, but you just cannot diet to save your life, you are not alone. It seems that out of the two part scheme of losing weight, working out seems to come much easier to some people than dieting. However, dieting and working out are both crucial in a truly successful weight loss plan. Exercise without watching what you eat will only get you so far. Here are some ways you can gradually kick your bad eating habits once and for all!

The key word there is "gradually." It is important to remember that anything is possible with time and patience. The first step is thinking of your nutrition plan in a long range view. Commit yourself to eating healthier for the rest of your life instead of going on a short term health spree. Dieting is not just a one time fix that gets you healthy and keeps you there. If you want to stay healthy, you have to make the conscious choice to go for the smarter, more nutritious option.

Second, gradually taper yourself off the things you know are detrimental to your diet. The best way to eat "clean" and not continue to gain weight is to stop eating fast food, junk food, sweets, and bread. It is up to you what you start with. Getting rid of the fast food means no more burgers, fries, pizza, hot wings, and all other kinds of similar fried foods. That stuff is just not good on any diet so just cut it all out. Commit first to going one month without fast food. You can have whatever else you want. Then, once you've made it through that month, go on to sweets and junk food. This means all your favorite candy, chocolate, pastries, and any kind of cookies or cakes or chips you can find in a bag or in a box on the snack aisle. It may sound extremely restrictive, but notice we didn't say the healthy snack aisle. We're condemning the snacks full of processed sugars and empty calories. Then go on to bread. Bread is not bad, but it's just not necessary. Have some oatmeal, some low sugar cereal, even a deli flat instead of a bagel. If you must, switch to whole wheat which offers filling fiber.

Once you've done all this you should have lost some pretty good weight. Also, you will have proven to yourself that you don't need these things to have joy in your life. You can say no to things that are bad for you. In time, your cravings will likely pass as your body gets used to not eating the junk. It's a fabulous feeling and you deserve it. So commit today to eat better for the rest of your life, which starts right now!
