Tria At Home Laser Hair Removal Gets an Upgrade

The DIY TRIA Laser Hair Removal system gets an improvement and at home laser hair removal gets a step up.

On November 3, 2009, TRIA announced the release of a new at-home laser hair removal system. The new TRIA is an upgrade to the popular original TRIA model, a product that is the current industry leader within the category.

TRIA Beauty is comprised of a team of dermatologists and engineers constantly striving to create innovation in home-use energy-based beauty products. Formerly known as SpectraGenics, their aim is to modify clinically proven aesthetic technologies to create effective products that can be used at home. The TRIA Laser Hair Removal system is one example of a product that employs professional technology for personal use.

The original TRIA laser system was developed in 1993 and became the only FDA approved system for permanent home hair removal via laser. The TRIA uses the same technology employed by plastic surgeons and dermatologists, but allows users to remove hair permanently in the privacy of their own homes.

This new product promises an improvement over the existing system on several levels, offering an exciting new option for consumers looking to permanently eliminate the drudgery of shaving or waxing. The new TRIA system offers both a lower price and improved software and goes a long way towards accomplishing the goal of TRIA Beauty's CEO, Kevin Appelbaum, whose stated aim is "offering the most advanced solutions at an affordable price point."

The new TRIA laser costs 25 percent less then the original, pricing in at $595. Despite this $200 savings, the laser also comes equipped with exciting new features. TRIA has provided users with five energy settings for the laser on the new model, an improvement from the original two options. These new settings increase comfort levels and permit more customization, allowing users to tailor the energy settings to their own hair color and thickness.

The new product is available as of November 3, and is sold online at TRIABeauty.com and QVC.com, as well as in fine department stores, spas and select physicians' offices.
