Currently available at Campbell Facial Plastic Surgery in Milwaukee is ThermiRF. This procedure addresses the concerns for micro-invasive skin tightening, wrinkle reduction, fat reduction, and facial and body contouring.
Dr. Andrew Campbell offers three procedures with the catheter based RF energy technology. ThermiSmooth is designed to tighten the skin of the neck, chin, and jawline. ThermiRase provides long-term nerve ablation that relaxes the facial muscles that cause unwanted wrinkles, producing results that last for up to 2 years, much longer than Botox injections that serve a similar purpose. ThermiSmooth contours areas of the face and body by reducing fat and firming the surrounding skin. Collagen production is also stimulated to produce long-lasting and natural-looking results.
First, the treatment site is injected with local anesthesia and then a tiny incision is made with a needle. A catheter is inserted, through which precise temperatures are emitted to accurately heat the desired tissues. The closely monitored temperatures are able to cause nerve ablation, destroy small areas of undesirable fat, and improve skin laxity. ThermiRF is an in-office procedure and generally lasts 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size and number of treatment areas a patient would like to address.
Patients typically take 1 to 3 days off from work during a short period of recovery, but may do many of their normal activities. Mild to moderate swelling can last for 3 to 7 days. Occasionally, bruising may also occur as a temporary side effect. Some patients have experienced temporary numbness afterwards. Minor skin burns are rare due to the close monitoring of the temperatures.
