Actual Body Thermage Results by Dr. Janee Steinberg
Post Treatment: 4 Months
Best Non-Surgical Body Contouring Award was conferred to board certified Fort Lauderdale dermatologist Dr. Janee Steinberg of Advanced Cosmetic Laser Center for her results with the Body Thermage. With over 30 years of experience in the field of dermatology, Dr. Steinberg is a member of many distinguished dermatological societies and a fellow of several academies, including the American Academy of Dermatology.
One of the most distressing signs of aging, skin laxity can occur anywhere - on the face and on the body. As in the case in which won Dr. Steinberg the award, the patient first contacted her physician regarding the laxity on the inner and front of her thighs as well as the crepey appearance of the skin. While the patient was an active and healthy individual, she felt that the looseness of skin in that particular area contributed to the appearance of cellulite.

Best Non-Surgical Body Contouring
Award at THE Aesthetic Academy
While there have been many skin tightening and cellulite reduction devices that have flooded the market, Dr. Steinberg chose the Body Thermage to treat her patient due to the patient's underlying issue, skin laxity. "We chose Thermage to treat the patient because we feel it is the best modality for targeting tissue tightening," describes Dr. Steinberg, "Although the legs had the appearance of cellulite, the problem was more from the draping of the tissue as opposed to irregular fat deposits found in true cellulite."
An ideal candidate for the procedure, the patient had an active and healthy lifestyle, exhibited only mild sun-damage and was seeking a non-surgical solution to her lax skin. Unlike much more invasive surgical procedures such as a thigh lift or body lift, Body Thermage is completely non-surgical and there are no incisions or excision of extra skin.
Similar to why physicians choose Thermage to treat the face for skin laxity, as we age, collagen degrades faster than the body can replenish - causing skin to sag and wrinkle. Using radiofrequency (RF) to encourage collagen re-growth, Thermage may tighten and lift lax skin without ever having to go under the knife. FDA approved in 2002 for treatment of facial wrinkles and rhytids, Thermage received clearance for treatment on the body in 2006.
According to Dr. Steinberg, the patient received one treatment of Thermage using the 16cm body tip 400 pulses to address the loose skin on the patient's thighs. "The entire treatment takes approximately 75 to 90 minutes," continues Dr. Steinberg, "While the patient began to see results in about 8 weeks, the final result was noted 4 months from the initial treatment date."
Since Body Thermage encourages the body to produce its own natural collagen, final results are not available immediately. However, unlike surgical procedures, Body Thermage may offer a significant modicum of skin tightening without any downtime, scarring, and minimal swelling and bruising.
Dr. Steinberg remarks, "In the end, our patient was ecstatic with her results! The looseness in her thighs which made her self-conscience about wearing shorts or going to the beach was gone. The Thermage treatment definitely made her more confident in her skin!"
