Earlier this month CoolTouch, Inc. announced that it had received FDA approval for its CoolLipo Laser Lipolysis device. Days later Cynosure, Inc. filed a lawsuit claiming the CoolLipo system violated their patent. Cynosure has a competing product SmartLipo which has received much positive press during 2007. In fact SmartLipo has been the most popular procedure on American Health and Beauty for several months in a row.
CoolLipo Laser is a form of Laser-Assited Lipolysis, a procedure recently made very popular with a new lipo procedure introduced last year, the SmartLipo. The CoolLipo uses a different wavelength than the SmartLipo laser which the company states assists in sub dermal skin tightening.
