Juvederm Voluma XC has added to Dr. Anthony Geroulis of Chicago injection rejuvenation menu. This advanced filler from the makers of Botox, Allergan has released to cosmetic and plastic surgeons, the first—and only—dermal facial filler to be approved by the FDA for restoring lost volume, to the mid face area, particularly the cheek region where volume becomes depleted with the aging process.
Juvederm Voluma XC is made up of hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar present in the body which is biodegradable and safe, just like the other injectables in the Juvederm family—which are intended mainly for the lower third of the face.
One of the biggest advantages between Juvederm Voluma XC and other standard formulation injections is that it has been approved to last the longest of any other formulation on the market. With a technically skilled injector, results may last up to two years which is far more than the six months duration of other facial fillers. Also unique is the added amount of lidocaine expertly built into the syringe, making the Juvederm Voluma XC nearly pain-free and eliminating any necessity for additional anesthesia.
JuvedermVoluma XC is not yet available in many cosmetic offices around the United States. Dr. Geroulis has been selected as one of the first cosmetic surgeons on the North Shore to employ this innovative formulation.
