Tarrant Plastic Surgery with locations in Fort Worth, Keller and Southlake, announced that they will begin to use new implantable silk scaffold to correct implant malposition after breast augmentation surgery.
Vishnu Rumalla, M.D., recently completed training using a new revolutionary silk-based mesh to help correct the difficult problem of implant malposition from breast augmentation. Two of these implant malpositions are the “bottoming out” of the implant and the lateral displacement of a breast implant. The scaffold technology represents one more option in correcting these difficult problems.
Allergan, a leader in breast implants and injectables like Botox and Juvederm, has received FDA approval to use the revolutionary material, called SERI, in correcting acquired deformities after breast augmentation. Dr. Rumalla said, “The silk mesh is treated by a process which gives it unique properties that allow it to be absorbed and incorporated into thinned breast tissues.”
