Recently, the Wall Street Journal published an article about an on trend treatment that claims to minimize acne treatment for scars and wrinkles. It's called mico-needling and the device uses tiny needle pricks to stimulate the growth of collagen, which is one of the bodys natural healing processes.
Dr. Simon Ourian of Epione in Beverly Hills said, Ive done some preliminary investigation of micro-needling and Im not yet convinced of its efficacy. We treat wrinkles and acne scars every day and I find that laser resurfacing combined with dermal filler injections offers better results.
Experts do want to warn consumers that even though some micro-needling devices are available for purchase to the general public there are risks of scarring and infection. Dr. Ourian also stated, The last thing anyone would want is to injure already damaged skin."
