Fraxel recently hosted 5 winners of a national contest - all 5 were women who recently turned 50, and had varying degrees of skin damage. Submitting your story to Fraxel enters you in their next promotion and may win you free Fraxel treatment!

Fraxel is a next generation laser made by Reliant Technologies, which has been FDA approved for repairing aging or sun damaged skin, and for the treatment of melasma. Fraxel has shown significant results with much less down time than its predecessor, the CO2 laser.

Fraxel Laser Treatment (FLT) is the latest beauty breakthrough to help restore aging and sun-damaged skin pixel by pixel, spot by spot. It is the only laser device specially designed to resurface a fraction of skin at a time with "a million points of light," reducing downtime and maximizing patient safety. Best of all, FLT offers rapid results ? most patients report softer, smoother and better toned skin, with cumulative improvement that restores a more healthy and vibrant appearance in as few as four to eight weeks.

Betsy Cantor of Santa Monica, California, entered the contest to seek treatment for sun damage accumulated over a lifetime of sun worshipping. After three treatments, she observed that she is "noticing a nice color in the cheeks and an overall smoother look." Cantor received FLT from renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Grant Stevens in Marina del Rey, California.

Kathleen Horay of Maple Shade, New Jersey, says Fraxel Laser Treatment is a personal treat after a harrowing year of personal and family health issues. A week after her first treatment, Horay was encouraged by her results. "My friends and co-workers started to really notice a difference in my skin, which made me feel good that it started to show after only one treatment." She received treatment from Dr. Steven Nielsen at his prominent Laser Me Beautiful center in Westmont, New Jersey.

Janet Kibbons of Weston, Florida sought treatment to look younger after a stressful year which included a divorce and her youngest child leaving for college. "My social life has really picked up since my treatments. Several men have asked me out and remarked that I look much younger than 50." Kibbons was treated by aesthetic expert Dr. Jill Lezaic of Laser Skin Solutions in Lake Worth, Florida and Jupiter, Florida.

Ginger Martin of Marietta, Georgia has four daughters, four grandchildren and a busy job as office manager of a real estate title company. After her FLT, Martin is impressed with her results. "I have no doubt that my treatments will improve my self-confidence, both personally and professionally." Martin received treatment of her face and hands from leading dermatologist Dr. Rutledge Forney of Dermatology Affiliates in Atlanta, Georgia.

Laura Matkin of Wimberley, Texas works in the sun as a soccer referee and entered the contest to erase her skin damage and give her the self-esteem to start dating again following her divorce. After her second treatment, Matkin noticed remarkable improvements. "The wrinkles around my eyes have really diminished, especially the vertical lines." Matkin was treated by skincare specialist Dr. Gregory Nikolaidis of Westlake Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery in Austin, Texas.

Contest winners were selected by a panel of skin health experts including:

  • laser authority Zakia Rahman, M.D., a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology who has treated more than 650 FLT patients
  • Sandra J. Harvey, MSN, who inspired the campaign when she underwent FLT and her skin went from burlap to silk
  • and Wendy Lewis of Wendy Lewis & Co, an international beauty consultant dubbed the "Queen of Cosmetic Surgery" by the London Evening Standard.

The 50th birthday bash honoring the five contest winners was held on Thursday, November 17, from 3:30 p.m. -- 6:30 p.m. at the Redeye Grill (890 7th Avenue at 56th Street, New York, NY). Winners will be joined by their family, friends and local physicians who performed their Fraxel Laser treatments.
