Imagine BOTOX Just Twice a Year - Revance RT002 Lasts 6 Months

Tired of getting BOTOX 3 or 4 times a year... there is a new product that should be on the market in the next few years that should reduce those trips to your Medical Spa down to twice a year.

BOTOX, Dysport & Zeomin typically last 3 to 4 months, the newest neuromodulator, currently known as RT002,  is undergoing FDA trials.  RT002 lasts nearly 27 weeks (over 6 months) according to a recent release by Revance Therapeutics, the company developing the neuromodulator.

Model receiving a Botox Injection

“Early studies with Revance RT002 show that this neuromodulator may last up to 6 months (2-3 months longer compared to Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin)," says Dr. Suneel Chilukuri, Dermatologist in Houston, Texas, "If this proves to be true in real world situations, the product will be a boon for our patients.  Fewer maintenance visits will be needed.   The question remains whether this effect is dose dependent or due to an unknown mechanism of action on the presynaptic nerve.”

Treatment of frown lines (glabellar lines) is the most popular aesthetic usage of injectable neuromodulators.  The largest patient is the frequency of receiving the injections that they are currently receiving.

According to the company, RT002 might not be commercially available until 2020, however, they will be gearing up their marketing program in 2019.

Doctors we talked to expect Revance's product to be priced higher than Botox, Dysport or Xeomin, because of the longer duration.
