As we age, one of the major issues we battle is skin laxity or loose skin all over the body. Therefore, it is no surprise that one of the most popular aesthetic procedures is skin tightening treatment. Many devices have been developed to promote collagen regeneration and stimulation without the need of surgery - including the newest version from Sciton: SkinTyte II.

The original SkinTyte device is powered by infrared light technology to deliver targeted deep heating to the soft tissue while protecting the outer epidermis, which may stimulate collagen contraction and regrowth, resulting in tighter and more youthful looking skin. There is no need for anesthesia and the infrared light technology is delivered with rapid yet gentle pulses over treatment areas.
Columbus cosmetic surgeon Dr. Marie DiLauro describes, "The main difference between SkinTyte and many other skin tightening devices is the SkinTyte treatment does not hurt. It uses broadband light energy to tighten the skin. The treatments are comfortable and there is no down time. Some other devices used for skin tightening tend to cause some degree of pain and discomfort because they use radio frequency."
According to the manufacturer, the newest iteration of the SkinTyte device, SkinTyte II, is also suitable for all skin types from Fitzpatrick I-VI, and may be used on many parts of the body including the abdomen, arms and the face: cheeks, jaw line, chin and neck to provide skin tightening. Dr. Patrick Bitter, Jr., board certified dermatologist and founder of Advanced Aesthetic Dermatology in Los Gatos, California says, "SkinTyte II produces results that are as good or better than the original SkinTyte procedure, but in one-half or one-third of the time."
According to Dr. Bitter, a tissue-firming procedure on a larger area such as the abdomen would take approximately 30-60 minutes with other technologies but the same if not better results could be achieved with the new SkinTyte II in less time: 15-20 minutes.
While patients will begin to see results immediately after treatment, results will continue to improve for as much as 6 months post final treatment. There is no downtime associated with SkinTyte and patients can resume normal activities immediately after treatment.
