With Mothers Day quickly approaching (Sunday, May 8th), don't scramble trying to find the perfect gift. Many medical spas offer facials that are both relaxing and rejuvenating and if Mom is looking for a more aggressive treatment, those are available as well.

As recently seen on The Doctors, Dallas, an aesthetician from the spa at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles performed one of their signature Fire and Ice Facials on a patient. Facials often include several steps and masks to address different skin concerns. The Fire and Ice Facial uses heat and cold masks to rapidly resurface the skin.
First, a mask with a proprietary mixture of retinols, vitamins A and B, and glycolic acids are applied to skin to create exfoliate and heat up the skin. After 3 minutes, that mask is removed and the aesthetician then applies steam to open up the pores to perform any extractions necessary. The last mask uses cold to hydrate, calm and soothe the skin while closing up the pores again.
The treatment lasts an hour and cannot be performed on clients that are currently using any type of retinols, Retin-A or accutane, or any form of glycolic acids.
If Mom is looking for a deeper resurfacing treatment, there are many great options out there to offer a rejuvenated face: chemical peels or laser skin resurfacing procedures such as Fraxel or the Endymed Pro. However, keep in mind these treatments are more aggressive and may require downtime.
