Open Your Eyes to a Fractional Eyelift

Take years off your face without surgery or extensive downtime with this fast laser procedure.

Imagine a laser procedure that lifts the eyes, with results comparable to an eye lift, making you look younger without surgery or needles. Dr. Bruce Katz, board certified dermatologist and director of New York's Juva Skin & Laser Center, created the Madonna Lift procedure using fractional CO2 laser technology as an alternative for those patients who may not yet require a full blepharoplasty but will benefit from a laser treatment.

In our recent interview with Dr. Katz at the annual meeting of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), he said, "It actually not only takes away wrinkles and tightens the eyelid's skin, it takes away dark circles and we get an eyebrow elevation as well - an eyebrow lift. So we've been getting really dramatic results. Our patients are really thrilled and the best part about it is that there's minimal down time. Our patients generally do a few sessions and they can go back to work most of the time the next day."

The Doctors featured the procedure in which Dr. Katz uses the Cynosure SmartSkin Fractional CO2 Laser. The fractional technology stimulates collagen growth in the skin by sending out hundreds of columns of light to penetrate deep into the dermis. Wide areas of skin are left undamaged for faster healing.

Dr. Katz places shields underneath the eyelids for protection from the laser, which is cleared by the FDA for the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. A numbing cream is applied to the eyelids and the laser treatment only takes a few minutes. Patients will need to return for between 3 and 5 sessions every 2 weeks to reach the final result. "We find that we haven't had any problems, no side effects at all. The worst side effect is that you get a little red or a little puffy which is easily covered with makeup."
