Recently, in the May 2010 issue of Elle Magazine, Dr. Alexander Rivkin discussed his minimally invasive alternative to surgical rhinoplasty. "Injections of BOTOX and fillers temporarily smooth bumps, lift drooping tips, and add definition," says L.A. based cosmetic surgeon Alexander Rivkin, MD in reference to his Non Surgical Nose Job (15 Minute Rhinoplasty).
Actual Results of Dr. Alexander Rivkin's Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty
With non-invasive procedures such as Zerona and Zeltiq on the rise, it is no surprise that the non-surgical rhinoplasty has become such a popular procedure. Since founding the procedure in 2004, Dr. Rivkin has performed over 1,000 non-surgical nose jobs and has gone on to train other physicians to ensure his exacting standards will be maintained by his trainees. He has been regularly featured throughout national and international media and is on television shows such as the TODAY Show and The Tyra Bank Show.
Dr. Rivkin's Non Surgical Rhinoplasty is performed by first applying a topical numbing cream to the top of the nose. Injections of Radiesse or Restylane are injected into depressions, used to smooth out any sharp angles or even changing the angle of the tip of the nose. By artfully injecting these fillers, Dr. Rivkin restores symmetry to the most prominent part of your face and can make the nose appear smaller and more attractive. Best of all, on top of the procedure lasting only fifteen minutes, the patient is awake during the procedure and can make any last minute changes to what Dr. Rivkin is doing.
For fifteen minutes of the patient's time, injections of Radiesse will last up to 12 months and Restylane will last up to 8 months. Recently, Dr. Rivkin has begun to offer Artefill as an injectable option for the Non Surgical Rhinoplasty. FDA approved for use in the U.S. since 2007, Artefill is the first injectable filler with permanent results. It's filler material differs from the temporary fillers in Radiesse or Restylane in that there are Lucite spheres suspended in collagen. While Radiesse and Restylane will break down and dissolve evenly in less than a years time, Artefill results can be seen for up to 15 years.
The cost for having a Non Surgical Nose Job? It all depends on the filler. Versus traditional rhinoplasty surgeries, which can run upwards of $15,000, Dr. Rivkin offers the Non Surgical Rhinoplasty procedure for $1,000 for the first Radiesse treatment ($900 for subsequent treatments) and approximately $2,000 for the more permanent option of Artefill.
Without the risks commonly associated with surgery, patients now have several options when it comes to fixing the appearance of their noses: Restylane (8 months), Radiesse (10 months - 1 year) or Artefill (Up to 15 years). Whichever filler you decide upon, the procedure has little to no downtime and does not cause bruising or swelling and patients typically return to work immediately.
Go ahead, take your new nose for a test run. Is it built for speed or comfort?
