The Miss USA pageant is an iconic event that keeps eyes glued to the TV every year. In recent years, scandal has plagued the event, from controversial contestant Carrie Prejean to the recent "racy" photos that has the web in an uproar. Many of these contestants go through a lot of pre-pageant preparations to get ready for their night in the spotlight as they hope to take home the crown.

Prejean, winner of Miss California 2009 and finalist in the Miss USA 2009 competitions, famously had a breast augmentation prior to the competition that was paid for by pageant promoters. Her implants later became another topic of controversy as pageant producers sued Prejean claiming she had never paid them back for the surgery.
Other procedures popular amongst those preparing to step out under the hot camera lights is Botox for underarm sweating. One of the FDA approved uses of Botox is for treatment of hyperhydrosis or excessive sweating. Botox is used by celebrities to keep the pit stains away when stepping in front of the camera.
Though tattoos are allowed in Miss USA competitions, those who fear the judges' scorn may turn to laser tattoo removal. New devices have increased the procedure's effectiveness and decreased the patient's discomfort.
