Fat, Beware - A CoolSculpting Front Is Taking Over the U.S.

Tune in for more details on how CoolSculpting from Zeltiq reduces fat by freezing cells

CoolSculpting Zeltiq Freeze Fat

Recently featured in the May 2010 issue of "O" - The Oprah Magazine, CoolSculpting is the "cool" new way to reducing fat. What differentiates CoolSculpting from other fat reduction procedures is it uses precisely calibrated cooling technology to eliminate fat cells, without harming the skin.

As the fat cells are exposed to cooling, they begin the process of natural cell removal. Fat cells in the treated area are gradually eliminated through the body's normal metabolic processes, similar to how fat from food is eliminated. Developed by dermatologists at Massachusetts General Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, cryolipolysis may be the new way to gradually reduce fat in regions such as the abdomen, flanks or back without needles, incisions, or anesthesia.

Denver based Dr. Alexis Parker explains that, "Cryolipolysis is a breakthrough in the science of fat reduction. Using advanced cooling to eliminate fat cells is advantageous compared to existing devices which utilize heat, sound waves or other mechanical techniques. This revolutionary technology is undoubtedly good news for anyone who seeks spot reduction of fat, but is not considering an invasive procedure like liposuction. In fact, patients report that they can feel a difference in how their clothes fit, even before they physically see a contour change in the treated area."

According to Zeltiq's clinical studies, up to 22.4% of fat layer thickness is reduced (within two to four months) after one treatment. CoolSculpting is completely noninvasive, requires no needles, incisions, anesthesia or pain medications. During the treatment, there is no discomfort and patients can do whatever they please to pass the time. Most patients resume normal activities the same day.

While Zeltiq is not yet FDA approved in the US, it is currently undergoing testing and has been used in Europe for many years.
