A new laser procedure lifts the eyes, making you look younger and more radiant, without surgery or needles. Dr. Bruce Katz, director of New York's Juva Skin & Laser Center pioneered the Madonna Lift procedure which achieves results similar to an eye lift, without any surgery. Dr. Katz uses Cynosure SmartSkin Fractional CO2 Laser. The fractional technology sends out columns of light rather than a steady beam leaving patches of undamaged skin which speeds up the healing process. The energy stimulates collagen growth and tightens the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and lifting the eyebrow, making the eyes look more open.
The SmartSkin Laser is cleared by the FDA for the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. With any laser procedure, there is a risk of burning or scarring the skin. Here there is also the potential to injure the eye. Dr. Katz places eye shields underneath the eyelids to protect the patient's eyes before he begins the treatment.
The only numbing needed is a topical cream applied to the eyelids. It takes only a few minutes in total for the treatment and several sessions are needed, generally between 3 and 5 to reach the final result. Treatments are typically done every two weeks with almost no downtime; patients can apply makeup and go back to work right away. Each treatment costs between $600 and $800. Most patients need three to five treatments and Dr. Katz says the results can last up to five years. Dr. Katz recently performed this procedure on Fox NY.
