PLEASANTON, Calif., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Aesthera today announced the installation of its 1000th Photopneumatic system in the United States. The installation of the 1000th system in the United States brings Aesthera's total installed base to approximately 1800 systems worldwide. The company has direct operations in the United States and Japan and a network of distributors in over 20 countries in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

The 1000th Photopneumatic platform - the Isolaz Pro - was installed at the offices of Amy A. Vaughan, MD, of Amy A. Vaughan Dermatology, PLLC, a dermatologist in private practice in Barboursville, West Virginia. "Antibiotic resistance to acne is a growing concern for dermatologists and a rapidly growing number of physicians are moving away from using antibiotics as a primary weapon in the battle against acne. Even those physicians that do use antibiotics, often combine them with other treatment modalities that lessen drug resistance," says Dr. Vaughan. "Against this landscape, offering Isolaz treatments, especially to treat the more severe kinds of acne, was an obvious choice for our practice," she adds. Aesthera's Isolaz platform is the only FDA cleared device for the treatment of comedonal and pustular acne, in addition to a broad range of other indications, the company adds.

"The installation of our 1000th US system in less than 4 years post commercialization is a landmark achievement," says Alon Maor, Aesthera's President & CEO. During this period, the company commercialized its proprietary photopneumatic therapy, established the Isolaz as the premier treatment solution for acne and brought to market Profusion(TM) - a breakthrough skin therapy that combines Photopneumatic light treatments with the delivery of Aesthera's proprietary skincare to symbiotically enhance skin treatment outcomes for acne, body tightening, skin rejuvenation and skin lightening. "We are proud to be celebrating our 5th year in business and will continue to develop treatment solutions that strengthen our leadership position in the dermatology market," he adds.

About Photopneumatic(TM) Technology

Photopneumatic Therapy, that powers the Isolaz(TM) and Isolaz Pro(TM) system, is a proprietary combination of pneumatic energy and broad band light. Photopneumatic devices are the only laser or light based devices cleared for the treatment of inflammatory acne, comedonal acne and pustular acne. They are also cleared for the treatment of mild to moderate inflammatory acne. Additionally, Photopneumatic treatments have an immediate visible impact on acne 24 - 48 hour post first treatment and are painless. Facial treatments take approximately 10 minutes, require no anesthetics or numbing creams and provide additional cosmetic benefits such as smoother appearing skin. Additionally, Photopneumatic Therapy is also cleared for the treatment of benign vascular and pigmented lesions and hair removal.
