ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Reliant Technologies, Inc., the
pioneer of fractional resurfacing and market leader of aesthetic laser skin
treatments, today announced that study results comparing fractional laser
technology to pseudo fractional laser technology will be presented at the
American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) annual meeting on Friday,
November 7, 2008 in Orlando, Fla. The data demonstrates that true
fractional laser systems, including the Fraxel re:store and Fraxel re:pair
lasers, provide superior safety and efficacy as compared to pseudo
fractional laser systems, which use altered ablative lasers. The data will
be presented during a scientific session titled, "You Asked for It. You Got
it," which will cover current trends and issues chosen by ASDS members.
During the session, Vic Narurkar, M.D., founder of the Bay Area Laser
Institute, and Tina Alster, M.D., co-director of the Washington Institute
of Dermatologic Laser Surgery, will share results from a review of
previously-published clinical papers and anecdotal patient data of nearly
800 treatments using true fractional and pseudo fractional laser systems.
"The Fraxel re:store and Fraxel re:pair lasers are true fractional
laser technologies that have overcome the limits of traditional ablative
laser skin resurfacing and pseudo fractional laser technologies with their
ability to safely and effectively treat patients both on and off the face
as well as those of all skin types," said Dr. Narurkar. "Unlike pseudo
fractional laser technologies, the Fraxel re:store and Fraxel re:pair
lasers provide precise fractional delivery and superior skin resurfacing
results for patients, all with minimal downtime and risk."
Additional clinical podium presentations and workshops about the Fraxel
family of laser systems during the ASDS annual conference will include:
- "Eyelid Rejuvenations," by Roy G. Geronemus, M.D. on Friday,
November 7, 2008 from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

About the Fraxel Systems
The Fraxel(R) family of products, which includes the Fraxel
re:pair(TM), Fraxel re:store(TM) and Fraxel re:fine(TM) laser systems, has
quickly become the industry standard for fractional aesthetic skin
treatment. Unlike laser devices of the past, Fraxel brand laser systems
treat microscopic volumes of skin with each unique pulse, leaving the
surrounding area intact for fast healing. Fraxel lasers have received
multiple FDA clearances and have been found safe and effective in treating
many areas of the face and body. The versatility of the product line
ensures that patients can choose the best treatment for various stages of
their lives as their skin care needs evolve.
The Fraxel re:pair laser is the breakthrough device that provides
Ablative Fractional Resurfacing (AFR(TM)) treatment, with more clinical
research than any product in the fractional ablative category. Fraxel
re:pair treatment has been clinically proven to improve wrinkles, rhytides,
furrows, fine lines, textural irregularities, pigmented lesions and
vascular dyschromia in a multi-site, multi-year study.
The Fraxel re:store laser, delivering Non-ablative Fractional
Resurfacing (NFR(TM)) treatment, was introduced in 2004 and has been
adopted by more than 1,500 dermatologists, plastic surgeons and aesthetic
physicians worldwide. It is the accepted gold standard for treating acne
scars and periorbital wrinkles, and for skin resurfacing procedures on the
face, neck, chest and hands.
The Fraxel re:fine laser, offering superficial non-invasive skin
rejuvenation, combines the unique method of fractional delivery with a
lighter treatment. Performed in 20-25 minutes, Fraxel re:fine treatment is
excellent for medical spas and family physicians seeking a safe and gentle
option.
